Mothers Deserve More

We live in a fast paced society and the world is ever evolving.Women give birth and are discharged from the hospital quicker than ever. During that time in the hospital, the mom is being “taught” so many things, with what feels like its’ all at once. It is overwhelming, yet underwhelming at the same time. Women then have 1 to 2 postpartum visits depending on the mode of delivery only never to be heard from again. Newborns have plans to see their doctors within 2 days of leaving the hospital usually followed by weekly or monthly visits. Moms deserve the same. There needs to be more attention placed on birthing moms here in the US.

My reason


It all begins with an idea. Well, I have had many. I know that as a woman, birthing a baby and becoming a mother is an experience one does not forget. However, as a black female and healthcare professional, I also know it can be one of the most frightening experiences. Unfortunately, we know that racial disparities exist, even in healthcare. Statistics show that black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women (CDC, 2023)

If you are reading this information, and weren’t aware, i’m glad you now are. It means that you are now able to play a role in working to prevent pregnancy-related deaths and improving maternal health outcomes. What can you do? I’m not sure what you are capable of doing, but I know that my education and background allows me to advocate for not only my patients but for my clients. This is my reason for creating this business.
